NTSE or better known as National Talent Search Examination is conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training or NCERT nationwide once in a year.
It is a scholarship test conducted in two stages. Scholarships are given to only class 10th meritorious students. Candidates who clear both the stages are eligible to get the scholarship. NTSE scholarships aim to provide support to deserving students in pursuing higher studies.
The NTSE exam is a 2 stage examination. The first stage consists of stage-wise examination, which is conducted in all the UTs and states.
Candidates who qualify in the stage 1 examination appear for the stage 2 national level examination. The merit list is prepared considering both stages of performance of the candidates. Around 2000 scholarships are provided as per the category-wise merit list released.
Candidates who get the scholarships are granted a sum of Rs 1250 per month for Higher secondary education. Post that for Undergraduate or postgraduate courses a sum of Rs 2000 is granted per month. However, for Ph.D. courses, the amount depends on the norms of UGC.
